Metals have been engraved for ornamental, functional or industrial purposes. The specialty of industrial engraving includes the machining directly on the industrial parts of letters, symbols and references. This activity has always been closely linked to the metallurgical industry, since it has used this technique for marking products, classifying pieces and other auxiliary uses, as well as for making manual punches to engrave numbers and letters used in other processes as tools. This last specialty has been carried out manually both in small workshops and in larger companies.

Likewise, the engraving process can also be used for the manufacture of molds and in general for all those processes where the manufacture of complex geometry is necessary.
